I, along with two others, are currently learning the Windlock and Awakening the Energy Body systems.

As Lujan mentioned in a recent blog posting, he is also teaching us a beginning set that he hasn’t taught before called The Ultimate Way – Opening the Tao.

The set comprises many vigorous movements which are having numerous effects on me, not the least of which is much more energetic connection and magnetism whilst doing the new system than I have ever felt before.

As I go through the movements sometimes the energy creates a buzz through and around my hands, other times it feels very heavy and viscous when a particular movement involves a lifting-type motion. When pressing my hands downwards and in front of me, numerous times I can feel the energy to almost be rested upon.

It is invigorating, and does leave me with a desire for more.

There is a lot to learn because there are many movements within this set and a great deal of information being imparted by Lujan. The exercises are not as complex in their shape and form as the Golden Lotus series which is the set I have learnt. I am not “getting” the techniques as fast as my training partners, but with Lujan’s usual gentle guidance plus practice with, and kind assistance from, my two colleagues I am certainly getting there.

A key part of Opening the Tao is the “tick-tock” and of entering and exiting the space. Lujan explained how these techniques are about mirroring a seedling, as it spirals upwards as it grows, and that there is so much that can be learnt from this. How these bring about connection and create power. For example, imagining the movements of a great ape walking and how they do this brings such strength.

I find myself when I am sitting-down just doing these movements and suddenly realizing that I am.

Lujan demonstrated how these aspects add to the other sets that we have learnt.

I have naturally been able to incorporate this into my Golden Lotus practice: naturally in that I didn’t have to think much about doing it – they just came into my practice. The movements feel more free than before, becoming more flowing, and, using that word again, more natural to me. Over time, I believe these additions cannot help but aid me with opening-up further to what is available.

Another effect on me is related to my back. I have an injury to part of my spinal column, which has had secondary affects within my pelvic region. What I have noticed is that these pains have all but disappeared over the short time of doing this new program.
