Some of the greatest lessons that I’ve ever learned were brought into my life at a very young age. Gentle guidance from powers greater than myself have always pushed me to seek and to learn. In recent years I’ve had the great fortune of coming upon the teachings of Lujan Matus.

At first, I took The Art of Stalking Parallel Perception as a story, an attempt at articulating the vague murmurs of “the thing” that we are subject to each day. It wasn’t long before I realized that the book is really a living lesson meant to show the reader what the problem is that we all face and what each one of us, as individuals, can do about it. After reading The Art of Stalking several times, I promptly acquired each successive volume.

To this day, I am still digesting and cultivating an understanding, or knowing, of what is contained in those texts. Since first being introduced to Lujan’s teachings, I have dreamed of the possibility of traveling across the world to take part in one of the many workshops that he offers. Meeting and working with Lujan directly would be an invaluable opportunity for further learning and growth that I simply cannot pass up.

I resonate with Lujan’s teachings. When life allows, I can spend hours digesting, word by word, every gesture contained within each paragraph. His elucidations have solidified inklings that I’ve held close, but never had the words to express, since early childhood.  These lessons have taught me how to commune with the world through a lens of inner silence, with an awareness of my body and the messages which it receives.

I am reminded to speak from the heart and to only add what is necessary to my work and daily interactions. I have learned to be wary of the reasoning mind, as reasoning can easily be manipulated. Reading and rereading all five of the books currently in circulation has brought clarity and purpose into my life. Every morning, as I greet the new day, I am grateful for another chance to be of service.

I currently work and attend college. What little travel I do is usually to visit my family in Arizona, where I am from. When I heard that the Gravity Series Workshop is going to be held in Sedona, AZ, I could hardly believe it.  When I got the email about the scholarship opportunity, after days wondering how I might attend, my eyes nearly popped out of my head. Extra funds, for me, are extremely rare. This scholarship may be the only opportunity that I’ll have to attend one of Lujan’s workshops for a long time. If I am selected to attend the Gravity Series Workshop, I hope to achieve a more centered and complete awareness of my body’s energy system. All while becoming a more enlightened and useful member of my community and the world at large.

As a Navajo man, my connection to the land in Arizona and the Southwest stretches back for generations since time immemorial. An introduction to Lo Ban Pai, within the Four Sacred Mountains of my ancestors, would be such an amazing honor and experience. I am intrigued by the lineage from which Lujan has come. I yearn for the clarity of heart and mind with which Lujan conveys his message, and I hope to learn the sacred arts that his benefactors have passed down through the ages. Thank you for the opportunity and thank you for taking the time to read this.

All the love in the world,

Claire
